Royal Glamorgan Hospital has a major outbreak of Coronavirus cases
A major outbreak of coronavirus at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant has forced bosses to cut services to bring it under control.
Planned surgeries have been temporarily stopped at the hospital in a bid to deal with a rise in Covid-19 cases.
Patients who would usually be taken to A&E in an emergency will also be sent elsewhere as part of the plan with the most likely destinations to the Heath in Cardiff and also Bridgend hospital.
The hospital in Rhondda Cynon Taf, one of the areas in Wales under a local lockdown, has 82 cases linked to transmission on the site.
A doctor based in Pontyclun is urging all out patients awaiting surgery to wait for notification of all scheduled operations.
