The Duke of Sussex is reportedly ‘sad’ he won’t be around after his cousin Princess Eugenie declares she’s having a baby.
Prince Harry is said to be sad at the news that his royal cousins, whom all live in Britain, will be thousands of miles away from his own son Archie.
Harry has previously said he wants his son to be “best friends” with William and Kate’s children and to be around the other members of the family.
Harry moved with his wife – actress Meghan Markle – and son to Santa Barbara, California where they will live in their 11 million dollar mansion.
They moved earlier this year after announcing in January they would be stepping down as so-called senior royals.
The area is reknowned for being an A-list celebrity haven but Prince Harry was faced with a stark reminder recently of the choice he’s made to leave royal life and the UK behind after his cousin said she is having a baby.
Princess Eugenie – who lives in Kensington Palace with her husband Jack Brooksbank and live next door to William and Kate – announced on Friday they were expecting their first child together.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021.
“The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news,” said a royal statement.
Harry became an uncle for the first time in 2013 when Prince George was born.
According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, “the Cambridge children have actually only met Archie a handful of times.”
