Wedding organiser faces huge fine

West Mercia police have said that a venue in Telford has been issued with a £10,000 fine. After they discovered a wedding reception taking place with 120 guests.

Wedding Venue gets £10000 fine: Police were called to the event being held at Stafford Park, Telford at around 5pm on Friday. After receiving reports of an “after-wedding” party in full swing. Up until last week a maximum of 30 guests only were being allowed under the new rules. However, this will drop down to 15 people from Monday. Due to extra protective measures announced by Boris Johnson.

Chief Superintendent of West Mercia Police, Paul Moxley, said that “the majority of communities in the area are adhering to the new legislation. And are acting extremely responsibly. That is why it is totally unacceptable for a minority of people to disregard the rules. So, as a consequence, the venue has been issued with a £10,000 fine”. He went on to say that “none of the wedding party guests received fixed penalty fines. As they all dispersed after we had spoken to them”.

He added that “We are taking a robust enforcement approach towards those who choose to intentionally break the law. And in order to help suppress the virus and protect everyone, where people are clearly breaching the regulations they will be given a fine.”
