After a suspected virus outbreak in their halls of residence. Around 500 students in Dundee have been ordered to self isolate.
Coronavirus: 500 Dundee students isolating after outbreak: An investigation linked to Parker House, an accommodation block for Abertay University, said one positive case has been found. With a smaller number of suspected cases possible. And until tracers identify anyone that the student mixed with all 500 residents must isolate.
Associate director of public health, Dr Daniel Chandler, said that the virus can spread extremely quickly. Particularly in places like residential blocks and that contact tracing is continuing to try to contact everyone involved.
The Principal of the University, Professor Nigel Seaton, said that the affected students will be given full support. And they will be contacted daily to see how they are doing. He went on to say that, due to increases in cleaning and safety, the University campus will remain open.
