Sports Bar owner Gary Kirby has decided to ban customers if they wish to wear a protective face mask
Kirby, who owns his sports bar in Florida feels that face masks make no difference at all in the prevention of spreading the Coronavirus and now asks customers to leave his bar if they attempt to wear one.
Now a sign stands firmly outside the establishment that reads “Masks Prohibited. Kirby said anyone who refuses to take off their face coverings will be forced to leave the bar with immedieate effect.
“I personally don’t agree with it. So that’s why I made the decision today I don’t want them here,” he said in an interview “It’s hindering our lifestyle as we know it.”
Kirby claimed that while he “doesn’t approve” of face masks, he is cleaning and enforcing social distancing at the bar. He has a doorman to keep track of the number of people entering the bar, and he hasn’t had one positive case of coronavirus despite thousands of temperature checks.
“I do agree that there is a virus, with a 1% death rate. I feel like we are statistically just as likely to get hit by a train,” Kirby told reporters.
Kirby said that the mask ban is a security precaution after an unsolved burglary that happened last month.
On August 7, a police report was filed after surveillance footage recorded someone who’s wearing a mask and a baseball cap entered Kirby’s bar and stole an unspecified amount of money.
