South Wales Police have charged a man in connection with an assault upon an 81-year-old man in Trecynon, Aberdare yesterday (Thursday, 17 Sept).

45-year-old Stephen Clive Henry, of Trecynon, has been charged with committing grievous bodily harm with intent, eight counts of assault by beating, and affray.

He will appear before Merthyr Magistrates Court today.

The elderly victim of the assault, and another man, were taken to hospital following the incident and have since been discharged.

Locals in the area whilst glad Henry has been arrested are spitting blood at his actions and want revenge in the valleys town.

Gwyn Thomas told local Global247news reporter this morning as the charged Henry goes in front of the court:

“The lads around here are not happy with Henry, he best pray for his own sake they lock him up, we look after our old folk around here – his actions are despicable you don’t go around attacking OAP’s here or anywhere, I hope they throw away the key!”  Global247News Twitter
