A paedophile who had admitted to two charges of indecent assault against a young girl earlier this year, was killed as he caught the train to face more charges at a trial in Liverpool.
Mark Jones, 51, hit at Halewood station in Merseyside early on Monday morning.
He was due at Liverpool Crown Court on two counts of raping the child and eight further counts of indecent assault, which were alleged to involve more serious sexual activity, all of which he denied.
He had pleaded guilty to two charges where he admitted to touching the young girl’s genitalia and also made her perform a sex act on him in the late 1980s.
Police and paramedics were called to the station at 7.41am after receiving reports of a casualty on the tracks.
But Jones, of Widnes, Cheshire, was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by the train.
This Thursday the British Transport Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.
