Orpington child snatch

A man is being hunted by police in London over an alleged attempt to snatch two schoolgirls from near a bus stop in south London.

The wanted man got out of a car and tried to snatch the girls, both aged 11, on Crofton Road, Orpington, at around 3 pm on September 9.

The two schoolgirls both ran from the scene and made their way back to school, where police and their parents were alerted informed, detectives said.

The two schoolgirls were physically distressed but otherwise unharmed.

The Metropolitan police are treating the incident as an attempted abduction.

The police are seeking a man described as a white male aged in his 30s.

He is believed to have been travelling in a white car, possibly an L plate Fiat 500, with another man, also a white male aged in his 30s.

Officers from the South Area Command Unit are investigating.
