A primary school on Spain’s Costa Blanca has already been ordered to quarantine on its first day of the academic year as young pupil falls unwell and tests positive for Coronavirus
Costa Blanca Primary School Class Quarantined : A school class on Spain’s Costa Blanca has already been quarantined after a young girl pupil tested positive for COVID-19.
It’s the first school to enter a quarantine scenario involving youngsters since the new school year started on Monday in the region.
The young girl attended the Els Germanells school in Rafelbunyol, 20 kilometres north of Valencia City.
She spent four hours with her 20 classmates on Monday when she put her hand up in the classroom complaining of starting to feel sick.
After collecting their daughter from school the child’s parents took her to the town’s health centre for a PCR test which confirmed that she had COVID-19.
The school was shut on Tuesday as it was a public holiday in Rafelbunyol, but school officials have contacted the parents of the girl’s classmates as well as her teacher who have all now been quarantined for 14 days as well as everyone being tested for the virus.
Local parents are now concerned and fearing the worst as Mandy Donovan from Valencia told Global247news: “Here we go the first day back and now we already have a case on the first day, this is exactly why many of us didn’t want our children returning to school – it’s far too soon, we have no choice though as we have been threatened with fines”
Schools are set to return on Monday a week later on the Costa del Sol and as reported previously, families are refusing to return their children to school despite the risks of fines.
