Caerphilly council in South Wales cancels Christmas

CAERPHILLY COUNCIL CANCELS ALL PLANNED CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES DUE TO ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

This morning Caerphilly County Borough Council made a statement that reads:
“It is with a heavy heart that we are officially announcing that all Christmas events hosted by Caerphilly County Borough Council are cancelled for 2020; this includes Bargoed Winter Fair, Blackwood Winter Fair, Caerphilly Christmas Market and YstradMynach Festive Fayre.
“The health and well being of the community is paramount and with social distancing measures being far too complex to implement at such large scale events, we have made the difficult decision to cancel these events for 2020 -Stay Safe”
The statement comes after the region has been recently placed into a lockdown with many heavy regulations.
Although residents feel the announcement is very premature as December is still 8 weeks away.
Helen Lintern from the town said today: ” How can they cancel all the festivities already? – Its only September, the council have lost the plot!”
