BMW washes out to sea after police told beachgoers not to come to Devon and Cornwall due to flashfloods

The expensive car was left on a beach in St Agnes in Cornwall, England by a family who have yet to be identified.

Local resident Esther Chase took pictures of the scene and said the vehicle in the sea was being tossed about by waves.

Ms Chase said: ‘A family drove down in the night, and tried to turn around and got caught by the incoming tide.’

According to Ms Chase, the car got caught on the sand trying to ‘do a maneuver.’

Shocking pictures show the BMW washed out to sea with the owners nowhere to be seen.

The vehicle was towed away by a breakdown recovery driver a few hours later, who said ‘it was floating around like a boat’ when he arrived.

He also said it was ‘full of seaweed.’

Police had warned people not to come to the area due to social distancing and due to flash floods in the area.

However, thousands of people came to the area to enjoy the last holiday before Christmas.

The owner of the vehicle has not been found yet, but is believed to be a man from Falmouth, Cornwall.
