West Yorkshire Police – who control the city of Leeds – state that it an offence for anyone to take part in antisocial driving involving two or more vehicles anywhere across the city.
However, local teens have said it’s just a ‘bit of harmless fun.’
“That’s the first time I’ve seen them in such a big group,” said 18 year old Shauna-Leigh Maguire.
“It was a big shock and many people saw it as intimidating, but it was nice to see so many people in the community come together.”
West Yorkshire Police confirm they were called to Foundry Mill Street in Seacroft where they broke the bike gang up.
Superintendent Jackie Marsh said: “We completely condemn this type of mindless antisocial behaviour that puts the safety of members of the public at risk during a busy bank holiday weekend when the emergency services have enough to contend with.
“We will be carrying out enquiries to identify those involved with a view to taking firm action, while also making full use of the existing injunction to deter and disrupt and any further events.”
