A prison guard receives a three year jail sentence. Hannah Gaves is caught trying to smuggle drugs into the prison she works at in her underwear.
Prison guard smuggling drugs: Hannah Gaves, 27, was stopped and searched on trying to enter Erlestoke prison in Wiltshire.
The search revealed that she was carrying cocaine in her knickers along with bags of cannabis, tobacco and Rizlas.
Ms Gaves pleads guilty to possession with intent to supply both class A and B drugs and tobacco.
The prison had earlier received a tip off that she was trying to get items into the prison unnoticed. Speaking on behalf of the Crime Targeting Team, Detective Sergeant Garry Epps said that there will always be a zero tolerance on the behavior that Gaves showed. A custodial sentence only enhanced the severity of the crime.
He went on to say that there is no excuse for such activities. People who think they can get away with it should be warned they will be caught.
The local inspector in charge of the case, Chris Martin, said that not only will the outer perimeters of the prison be patrolled but the comings and goings of staff members will also be closely monitored.
Gaves was sentenced on Friday at Salisbury Crown Court to 3 years imprisonment and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £170.
