Laguna Village Fire Costa Del Sol Latest: Declared Level One Emergency

The massive fire outbreak at Laguna village in Estepona on Spain’s Costa del Sol has been declared a level one emergency

Emergency services on Spain’s Costa del Sol have declared the huge fire that has broken out this afternoon at Laguna village on Spain’s Costa del Sol a level one emergency.

A massive evacuation is now taking place of hundreds of homes as the level one fire rages on with risk of turning into a devastating forest fire.

Seaplanes, helicopters and a mass of firefighters from Spain’s Bomberos fire services are currently trying to contain the blaze that is threatening the region of Estepona.

An eyewitness from the scene tells Global247news: “This is huge and could potentially be the biggest fire here for many years, firefighters are still continuing to arrive as well as many more aircraft carrying both water and firefighting foam.”

“The petrol station is surrounded by fire and it’s being tackled in an attempt to stop it exploding, whilst hundreds of people are fleeing the scene and their homes, whilst community points are being set up for them to shelter”
