The islands recorded 908 new coronavirus cases yesterday in just 24 hours.
It sets the record for cases in one day since records were taken at the start of the pandemic.
There are now currently 2,227 cases across all three of the islands with one person dying and 27 in hospital and 4 in intensive care.
247 of the 908 cases are said to have ‘fully recovered’ from the virus.
Despite the rises in cases, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has ruled out a return to nationwide lockdown.
“The evolution of the pandemic should be a concern to everyone,” Sánchez told a press conference on Tuesday.
“We have managed to flatten the curve in worse and more dramatic situations than this. I’m confident that we can do it again if each and everyone of us acts responsibly,” he added.
The rise in cases has been blamed on the age group of 15 to 35s who amount for over half of all cases.
