Boris Johnson makes a screeching U-Turn and now insists children returning to school will require a facemask
Britain’s prime minister Boris Johnson performed his latest U-turn in the face of growing pressure from headteachers, teaching unions and medical experts.
Face masks will be compulsory in communal areas and corridors for children in towns and cities that have stricter coronavirus regulations placed on them from central government.
Although headteachers will retain discretion over the use of face masks in schools in other parts of England less affected by the deadly Coronavirus, the government will drop guidance that they should not be used.
The U-Turn came after the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended that all children returning to school should wear a protective mask.
