The woman was found dead in her mother’s home with gunshot wounds to the neck and chest on Monday.
The incident happened in Arizona Street, Churra just outside of the city of Murcia.
According to reports and witnesses, the 47 year old woman had been arguing with her brother and was then later found dead at 4.30am.
The police were called with the house being cordoned off pending a murder investigation where swabs and fingerprints were taken.
Neighbours on Churra’s Arizona Street said that the home where the crime was committed was not the home of the woman found dead, but that of her mother.
The woman came to visit regularly to feed her as she was disabled and resided there with one of her children.
The victim’s brother surrendered to police late on Monday, admitting he was responsible for her death.
Neighbours also said he suffered from mental health problems and ‘acted strange’ whenever his sisters came by to visit.
He is now in custody and being interviewed and will appear before a judge this week if charged.
