Pedophile politician jailed for arranging sex with fictitious 3 year old girl

A Councillor has been jailed for four years after it came to light that he had tried to instigate sex acts with a three year old girl who actually did not exist.

Alex Kear, 50, is about to lose his seat on Wakefield Council after the allegations and a judge was quoted as saying that he had been waiting years for something like this to happen.

Leeds crown court was told on Friday that he had been in touch with a woman who he wrongly believed to have a toddler and was sending her indecent requests via text. It turned out what he thought was the mother was actually an undercover police officer.

Kear had previously admitted to the crime and also to inciting the sexual exploitation of a minor under the age of 13. Judge Simon Phillips QC told him: “I have no doubt that if that three-year-old girl had existed you would have intended to carry out your degenerate predatory plans against her”.

In July, when he came clean and admitted to the offenses charged against him, the chief legal officer of Wakefield council, Gillian Marshall, said in an interview that they were powerless to remove him, however this could change based on the outcome of the trial and if he were to be convicted.

The law states that Councillors can only be removed if they have been sentenced to more than 3 months imprisonment which, in this case, has now happened.

Defending lawyer, Michael Collins, said that Mr Kear was happy to have been arrested as he felt he needed help with his addiction to pornography. He went on to say that his client had been diagnosed with autism and suffered from anxiety and depression.
