Spain's parks close on the Costa del Sol

Spain’s Costa del Sol has seen further restrictions signed off as it fights the deadly Coronavirus as numbers continue to rise

The Mayor of Alhaurin de la Torre, Joaquín Villanova on the Costa del Sol has signed a new decree that limits the hours of activity in parks and sports courts, and closes social centres, feeling it will assist controlling the spread of COVID-19.

With schools set to return in September residents believe it’s another sign that schools will not reopen as play parks are deemed out of bounds.

The local town hall said in a statement: “Children’s parks will be closed at night, from 10 pm to 8 am”

The Mayor continued regarding social centres, it has been decided to close them “Due to the fact that activities can be carried out in alternative outdoor facilities, and that use can be made of municipal spaces or facilities for specific needs,” he said.

British ex-pats on Spain’s Costa del Sol view this as a clear sign that schools will not reopen in September.

Mandy Lockett who resides in the area told Global247news: ” Yea right, and they say the schools will still reopen if kids can’t go to the park how on earth are they going to go to school in September? – that’s not going to happen is it really, the restrictions go further and further every day and people still believe another lockdown is not looming?”

“If parks and social centres are now banned then clearly it’s schools next!” she finished.
