A brand new ‘health innovation point’ has been set up at Cala Bosque beach in La Zenia, Orihuela Costa. The help point, which is located at the beach entrance, is there to give advice to beach goers to help prevent skin cancer. The facility includes a UV Index Indicator and a touchscreen information point.
Melanoma of the skin is the 19th most commonly occurring cancer in men and women. There were nearly 300,000 new cases worldwide in 2018 although rates in Spain are relatively low in comparison to other countries.
Local expats welcomed the new facility with Angela Williams saying, “What a fabulous idea to help raise awareness of skin cancer”.
