Ronald Koeman has today been named the new head coach of Barcelona FC. He replaces Quique Setien who was sacked following the Catalan clubs humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The 57-year-old, who was Netherlands coach, has signed a two-year deal with the Spanish giants. He played for the club for 6 years after signing in 1989 and he helped them to win four league titles and the European Cup for the first time.

Barca finished second in La Liga last season, failing to win a trophy for the first time in 12 seasons.

The club also announced Ramon Planes as their new technical director. He replaces Eric Abidal, who left his role on Tuesday.
