Wizz Air budget airline announces setting up a new base at Gatwick Airport ready to supply more routes to Spain’s Costa del Sol & Costa Blanca
Budget airline Wizz Air is set to offer more flights to Spain’s Costa del Sol & Costa Blanca as it sets up a full-time base at Gatwick Airport, just two weeks after setting up another new base at Doncaster.
The news comes as a light relief to ex-pats residing on Spain’s Costa’s who were fearing rising flight costs after other airlines recently announced cutting back flights to and forth Spain.
Fares for the flights with the up and coming budget airline are lined up to be starting at just £21.99.
Frequent flyer Muriel Bissat from Portsmouth but now residing on Spain’s Costa del Sol, told Global247news how delighted she was to see the new routes.
“It’s good to see the airline providing the new routes to Spain, especially since Flybe went belly up, I fear too Easyjet will and that would have really only left us with Ryanair and I’m sure O’Leary would take advantage and hike the prices in the event, so new competition is always good, I haven’t flown the airline before but will definitely try them out in the future,” Ms Bissat said.
This marks a total of three UK bases for the budget carrier, which also operates from London Luton. Currently, Wizz Air offers flights from 11 UK airports.
