Spain's Balearic Islands pool and boat parties to try combat COVID-19

New measures have been introduced on the Balearic Islands by the government to try and battle coronavirus.

President Francina Armengol and Health Minister Patrica Gomez outlined the new restrictions at a press conference today and said the new rules will come in force tomorrow.

Going forward, nightlife venues will have to close their doors at 1am, an hour earlier than before. Nightclubs have been closed since the start of the state of alarm and will continue to stay closed.

From tomorrow if a social distance of two meters cannot be maintained, then smoking is forbidden, alongside wearing a mask unless the person has health conditions.

The government have denied there will a second lockdown, however the Balearic Islands recorded its highest number of new infections since the pandemic started.

All sports competitions scheduled from September will now be postponed until October.
