The woman was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning in Acton, West London UK, Met police say.
The woman walked into a police station in the early hours of Sunday to say there was a young boy dead at a home in Cumberland Park in Acton, London.
The police quickly responded to the scene where they found the 10 year old boy.
The woman, aged in her 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Cops say she was known to the child and they are not looking for anyone in connection with the tragedy at this stage.
Police say they believe they know the boy’s identity but are waiting for him to be formally identified.
Detectives from Specialist Crime are carrying out the investigation.
No post mortem has been carried out yet.
