Messi misses training

The news comes from the same journalist who broke the Neymar to PSG story.

Lionel Messi was reportedly ‘furious’ after his Barca side’s 8-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the week in which they were humiliated and knocked out of the Champions League Quarter Finals.

There were already multiple rumours Messi was giving serious consideration to his future at Camp Nou but the 8-2 defeat has apparently tipped the scales.

Reporter, Marcelo Bechler, has said Messi wants to leave this summer and this Brazilian journalist was the first to break the news of Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona to PSG.

He claims an anonymous source within the club told him Messi has already made it clear he wants out immediately, as he is totally unconvinced by the sporting project for the future.

Messi is now 33 and has accomplished all he has needed to at Barcelona after moving there from Argentina in 2001.

He has won literally every cup at club level numerous times for the Catalan giants.

Messi has a contract with Barca until June 2021, with a clause of £633million but the Argentine superstar, who has been rated one of the best football players ever, could literally walk into any world club side.

Inter Miland and Manchester City are reported to be the favourites to sign him with Messi being quoted once as saying he would ‘love to play in the Premier League.’

Former Liverpool great and football pundit Graeme Souness said: “Lionel Messi looked like a man who has had enough of carrying that team; without him they wouldn’t even be good enough to qualify for the Champions League.

“This would be the perfect week to put a bid in for the 33-year-old Argentinian and I could easily see him playing in Manchester — at either United or City.”

Barcelona also sacked their head coach Quique Setien after the defeat with former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino one of the favourites to head the Catalan’s.
