The price of travel from France to the UK has hiked by up to 1000% as travel companies look to cash in on the latest crisis caused by the coronavirus.
Almost half a million Brits are in France and they were rocked by the news that France is no longer on the UK Government’s safe list of countries to travel to meaning that if they do not return to the UK by 4am tomorrow morning they will face a 2 week quarantine.
Eurostar has also hiked up its fares with prices up by 67% compared to next week.
DFDS ferries who sail from Calais to Dover have increased fares by 80% with a journey today costing £196 compared to £109 if you want to travel next week.
British Airways flights from Nice to Heathrow are amongst those affected by the price hike. Next Friday the flight will cost £92. Tonight it will set you back £770. An EasyJet flight from Paris to Gatwick tonight will cost £107 compared to £37 next week.
Anyone with a BA flight booking can bring their booking forward with no charges. However they will have to pay any difference in fares.
The fare increases have been slammed by consumer groups and those abroad who are affected by the changes.
