According to Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon, a train has derailed in Aberdeenshire and there are early reports of “serious injuries”.
Sturgeon added that after the train derailment in Stonehaven a major incident has been declared.
She stated that details are still emerging at this early stage but there have been reports of many serious injuries. She went on to say that her immediate thoughts are with those involved in the tragedy.
Rail company, Network Rail Scotland, said that is is too early to say about the severity of the accident. The call out came at 9.43am this morning stated the British Transport Police and there are currently 30 emergency vehicles at the scene, including 6 ambulances, an air ambulance, transportation vehicles for the injured and special response teams.
