A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has said that a man has died in the grounds of a church after being fatally kicked in the head.
Steven McMyler who was 34 and from Wigan was attacked in the grounds of Wigan parish church on Thursday shortly before 8pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The GMP would like to speak to four men that traveled from the Merseyside area to Wigan who they believe may have significant information into what happened. The men in question were caught on CCTV walking past a takeaway on Wallgate just minutes before the incident occurred and were also caught on camera earlier in the evening at Southport railway station.
Detective Inspector Wes Knights, who is heading the investigation for the GMP said that the investigation is fast moving and that the pieces of the investigation were falling rapidly into place. He stated that the public response has been fantastic and that anyone with information should come forward so that Steven’s family can get the answers that they desperately need at this awful time. He appealed for anyone that recognized the men from the photos to do the right thing and get in touch.
