The M62 has been closed after a vehicle fire erupted this Monday afternoon.
The heavy goods vehicle caught fire on the eastbound carriageway in West Yorkshire.
The westbound carriageway also had to be closed after thick smoke billowed across.
The incident occurred between junction 21 for Milnrow and junction 22 for Rishworth Moor near Huddersfield.
Traffic is currently being held in both directions while emergency services attend the incident.
One person posted on Twitter: “So far we’ve seen about 8 fire engines, 2 unmarked police, and a number of traffic police cars go past. No sign of the smoke stopping yet. #m62 #vehiclefire #lorry.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue tweeted: “Our crews are currently dealing with a lorry fire on the M62 between J21 and J22.
“The road is currently closed in both directions.
“Please avoid the area while our crews respond to this incident.”
