After the heartbreaking news earlier this week regarding sisters Linda and Anne Nolan, their sibling Coleen has said that she is seriously considering a double mastectomy as a “prevention” rather than cure for the possibility that she could contract cancer.
Just days ago the news broke that Anne, 69, has stage three breast cancer while Linda, 61, is undergoing treatment for cancer of the liver. Another sister, Bernie, passed away in 2013 from breast cancer aged just 52.
The sisters enjoyed the famous life in the 1970’s and 80’s as the hit Irish group the Nolans, formed totally from family members. Coleen, 55, says that she thinks that there is a “rogue gene” somewhere in the family and it could possibly be on her father’s side.
She has three children, Shane Jnr 31, Jake 27, and Ciara, 19. She said that as a family they are all “terrified” of the disease. As a family unit her children are urging her to investigate the possibility of surgery as they have seen cancer decimate so many of their family members.
Coleen stated that whilst taking part in the television show Dancing on Ice in 2009 she had a breast cancer scare and that she now sees a specialist every year to check for any sign of abnormalities.
