Gareth Bale’s Real Madrid future continues to look increasingly bleak as Zinedine Zidane has left him out of the 24 man squad to play Manchester City in Friday’s crucial last sixteen second leg.
Bale joined Real Madrid for £85m from Tottenham in September 2013. In this time has helped the Spanish giants win the Champions League on four occasions, scoring in the 2014 final against Atletico Madrid and netting a double against Liverpool in 2018.
In the 2019 summer transfer window he was set to move to the Chinese Super League in a deal worth a reported £1m a week. The move broke down over a disagreement about Bale’s transfer fee.
Bale has only started 14 games in 2019-20 and has barely played since the end of the Covid-19 lockdown.
Real will be looking to overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit with the winners of the tie facing either Juventus or Lyon in the quarter finals.
