US President Donald Trump has said that Chinese app TikTok will be banned ‘as soon as Saturday’ in the US.
The decision will be made due to US intelligence officials claiming that the app poses a possible national security risk.
US Government officials and workers at many corporations have been banned from downloading it onto work phones for fear their data will be transmitted back to China’s communist government.
Trump told reporters on Air Force One: ‘As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States.’
It is thought that Trump will use an executive order to carry out the ban.
He added: ‘I have that authority. It’s going to be signed tomorrow.’
Earlier in July, Trump stated that he was going to ban TikTok ‘to get back at China for coronavirus.’
