Former UK MP Charlie Elphicke was found guilty of three sex attacks after a trial at Southwark Crown Court
The 49 year old was immediately dumped by wife of 25 years Natalie Elphicke on Twitter. In 2019 she succeeded him as Dover MP.
In a statement she said “I would ask for some personal space and time to come to terms with the shocking events of the last three years. I will not be commenting further.”
Convicted of groping two younger women he lowered his head as the verdict was given after a three week trial.
The offenses occurred in the Belgravia home in 2007. Father of two, Elphicke invited the woman to the house, whilst his wife was away. He then proceeded to grope her breasts and chase her around the house chanting “I’m a naught Tory”. He then proceeded to say he liked bondage and whips, and asked her if she liked lace and leather.
Prosecutor Natalie Dawson addressed the court telling of how the victim, who wishes to remain unnamed said “Elphicke was chanting in a singsong way: ‘I’m a naughty Tory, I’m a naughty Tory’, as though it was the school playground. He then assaulted me on the sofa, reaching into my top to grope my right breast and trying to kiss me”
In 2016 another young parliamentary worker suffered similar harassment from Elphicke
Elphicke was Dover MP from 2010 to 2019. Sentence will be passed on September 15th
