400 people on Spain’s Costa del Sol are under investigation after a hiker party test positive
A group of 20 hikers who have been to Huelva, saw 4 of their party struck down with Coronavirus infection whilst on their travels.
The four became seriously unwell and were taken to hospital where they all tested positive for COVID-19, with one reported to be in critical condition with breathing issues.
Health authorities contacted their counterparts in Huelva as the hikers returned to the Costa del Sol to deem who the party have been in contact with and it was reported back over 400 people.
Huelva is still experiencing a rise in cases and this latest episode is a particular worry to Andalucian health authorities as they urgently put out calls to anyone in Malaga who has been in contact with the group since they returned.
As the news broke today on Euro Weekly News by Tony Winterburn, panic hit the streets of the Costa del Sol, as residents fear another lockdown, which would be a financial disaster for the local community.
Tony Woodcock said: ” I knew this would happen, I just bloody knew it would, the borders should have remained closed and tourists not allowed, it needed to be more contained, this sort of stuff will see us back on lockdown, I don’t think I could cope with another one, especially this time of year”
Whilst bar owner Mark Sutherland said whilst preparing his famous fish and chip night at the Luna bar in Fuengirola: ” This is the last crap we need, we are just getting busy again as tourists slightly return and locals feel safe to come out, let’s hope this doesn’t spread badly – it’s time to pray”
Global247news will update on the position as soon as more news comes in.
