A Police led manhunt is underway In the UK after a woman, 19, was shot near a Lidl branded supermarket in Blackburn England who later died in hospital from gunshot wounds.

Lancashire Police in the north of England responded shortly after 3 pm yesterday to 999 emergency calls that a woman had been found unresponsive on King Street, following gunshots being heard blasting through the streets of the northern town.

The woman victim was taken to the local hospital in Blackburn but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Blackburn police force said:

“Formal identification has yet to take place but we believe her to be a 19-year-old woman from Blackburn. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

“A Home Office post-mortem will take place in due course to establish the cause of death, though it is thought at this time that she died from a gunshot wound.”

The statement concluded that following the incident an automobile, believed to be a light-coloured, possibly metallic green – had been seen racing away from the scene at high speed

“A car matching the same description was later recovered from Wellington Road” Blackburn Police revealed.

Blackburn is is the north of England and is known as a drug gang associated area with high unemployment of ethnic mixed cultures and races mainly from the far east such as Asia.

Blackburn citizen Amir Patel gave global 247 news his thoughts just hours after the incident:

” This will be drug-related again I’m sure, it’s rife around these parts but we don’t get too many shootings, I hope the police catch the culprits soon”

The investigation continues.
